Digital Multicam Solution?
Hi guys, I am currently trying to revitalize my company's live even production technology. Currently we do 3-4 camera shoots in SD with a Datavideo 4 cam firewire based switcher. We record the live cut to a DVCAM tape and capture the tape later to FCP. In FCP we mark up all the mistakes that were logged and then refer to the ISO tape records from each camera and then recapture moments we lost when making a bad cut, etc.
It's been working like this for a while, but I would love to cut down on editing time. Right now we spend quite a bit of time having to log/capture the ISO tapes to fix up the live cut. Not to mention having to spend the time capturing each master tape. I am trying to put together an all digital solution, where every camera's ISO signal and the master signal are all recorded to hard disk. Or is there a system that can record the live cut and then handles for each edit? The problem with our current system is that I cannot figure out a way to record directly into the computer with accurate timecode(we use time of day TC). I was thinking about Firestore solutions for the ISO cameras, but with some of the seminars we shoot going up to 9 hours a day, we would easily max out those 100gb drives. Any ideas? Thanks!
