Camera in race car
Looking for some buying advice: very soon I need to buy a small sub-$1K HD camera to be mounted in a Grand Am race car. It's for a 24 hour race, so low light capabilities are a factor. Because of rolling shutter issues, all CMOS cameras are out. That seems to leave in the CCD field the JVC GZ-HD7 Everio and Panasonic HDC-SD5 as top choices, though I'm open to other suggestions.
I don't need to record the entire 24 hours, just beginning, middle (night), and end. The 60g built in to the JVC is appealing, but I've read that its battery life is sub-par so the long record time is negated. I will have offload abilities on location. Other concerns are focal length (wider the better) and resale value--I'll be selling it as soon as the job is done. I'm grateful for any help! |
