Exporting HD - After Effects
I just got my Canon HD cam and I added a little effect in After Effects as a test but I can't find an export setting that maintains the 1440x1080 16.9 look, looks closer to 4.3 even though I turned the "maintain 4.3" off.
I also can't seem to find a way to export the sound as well unless I chose an SD setting. Is it not possible to export to the original size and look of 1440x1080 in After Effects? The video properties that I did export says 1440x1080 but it looks 4.3. Some help would be appreciated, thanks! |

Note to moderators: This should really be in the AE section.
Everything sounds right except whatever you're using to view the footage isn't getting the pixel aspect ratio, or PAR, correct. Set the PAR in the comp settings. It should set the parameter in the file's metadata so that the player or other application understands that the PAR should be set to 1.33. That'll bring your footage back to 16:9. |

Thanks Tripp!
I didn't know there was an AE section, by all means please move this to the correct forum. I did look for an Adobe forum on here but I couldn't find one, could you point me in the right direction Tripp? Thanks again. |

Danny,
You'll only be able to export audio along with video if you render to a video format like AVI or MOV. If you're rendering out of AE as an image sequence of JPEGS, TIFFs, or PSDs, you'll need to export your audio separately. Exporting the audio by itself is done the same way as video. You'll need to go into your format options in the output module, where the drop down menu gives you options like Video for Windows, Quicktime, TIFF Sequence, etc. There should be a couple of options in there to export as a WAV or AIFF file, depending on what system you're using. Also, After Effects might not stretch out your 1440X1080 comp, but you can do that in your editing program. Simply adjust the horizontal scale/width of your clip to 133.33%, and you should be back in business. Hope this helps! |
