Canopus ADVC 110 and 300

Hello,

I've been using a Canopus 110 to convert images for previewing on an external monitor and have found this makes the whole editing experience that much more relaxing as well as far more effective when applying an FX or making a colour adjustment.

I now want to transfer analogue (VHS) images to Sony Vegas Pro 8 for re-editing and burning to a DVD. I can capture these from the VCR through the Canopus 110 but would there be any additional benefit in buying and using the Canopus 300 for this purpose? If so what sort of improvements could I expect in return for this additional outlay? Would it counter any loss of quality in the images as they are being transferred?

Many thanks,

Richard Jones

How do you connect it from your computer to your TV.

I believe the 300 adds a Time Base Corrector which could help you.

Computer -> firewire -> ADVC -> RCA/S-Video -> TV

Agreed - I believe the primary reason for choosing the AVDC-300 with its Time Base Corrector is specifically to improve the digitisation of jittery, consumer, analogue tape-based formats, such as VHS.
