Edius 5 & 5D footage
Anyone have any experience (good/bad) editing Canon 5D footage with Edius 5. What is you ingest process. Also, any experience with HDspark hmdi realtime output to HDTV.

Hi Mark. The only practical thing I found I could do with the 5D2 footage is to put it on the timeline and render it out into Canopus HQ format. It is pretty slow though.
The Canopus AVCHD2HQ converter will not accept the Canon files because of the .mov extension. It looks like Canopus are reluctant to change the program because they have known about the issue since before the last 2 updates but still it doesn't work. Procoder 3 will render the .mov files to full HD in around 0.6X realtime, which is a lot faster than doing it from the Edius timeline. This is my preferred way of working with the Canon files, convert them before opening Edius. Richard |

Try Procoder
I don't own a D5 but your discussion sparked my interest and I found some sample files on the internet.
Edius 5 is slow indeed in converting to HQ but I tested Procoder and it's about twice as fast, very close to realtime even on this oldish PC at work (dual core @ 2.13 with 1GB RAM). Give it a try! |
