Canon H1 in 24F with Edius Users??

Hi. I had written earlier about noticing 'strobing' when using the Canon H1 in 24F, and my attempts to edit/playback in Edius. I understand that due respect must be given to shooting in 24p (minimize motion/panning, etc), however, I can't help but think that something is just a little off in my workflow, or perhaps the current format compatibilities. For reference, I have a Canopus SP system, with 3.61 software, the hotfix, etc. It's been great so far overall.

I borrowed a friend's Panny AGX100 yesterday, and did 5 minutes worth of test shooting in the 24p mode, using 1/24, 1/48.3 & 1/60th shutter speeds. The 1/60th at 24p looked very good, and Edius digitized it very nicely straight from the camera over firewire (SD DV). The footage looks smooth & filmic, just as I was hoping from shooting in 24p, similar to reality show B-roll, etc.

I tried the H1 in 24F mode at 1/60th as well to match - it's very close, but there is a slight 'strobing' effect overall, making it much harder to view. I can't help but think it's a project setting issue, capture issue, pulldown issue, etc. I tried digitizing it as HDV 1080i 24p over 60i, and HDV 1080i 60i. I also tried playing it back in HDV 24p & 60i timelines and in 24p & 60i SD timelines. I remember looking at the properties on one of the clips, and there was an 'expansion' tab that mentioned 2:3 pulldown as the sole characteristics. Perhaps I need a way to remove pulldown, reverse it, who knows?

I thought I'd write & lobby any other Edius users to see of it is confirmed that Edius 3.6+ is ready to go with the H1 in 24F mode, or are there other steps I should take to make the footage 'conform' appropriately. I didn't want to beat my head in on something that may still be in development. Likewise, I have Edius broadcast coming soon - perhaps that may give some more latitude in using various project/digitizing settings(?). I noticed some FCP users are working in DVCPROHD, which could be a potential option in Edius Broadcast.

Once I saw the difference between the two cameras, I figured I'd check back to base camp here. Maybe it's an HDV thing, a Canon thing, a Canopus thing, a Me thing or all of them combined...

Any advice, project/digitizing/camera settings, etc are enormously appreciated.

Thanks as always,

Shawn
