This sponsor rocks!

I ordered a GL2 from EVSONLINE or EVS a site sponsor. Processed the order online Tuesday, gave them my debit card. Within an hour I recieved a confirmation of receipt of the order.

Three hours later, I get the its in the mail email, complete with a tracking number. I ordered it overnight FedEx. It took an extra day to get here but thats due to snow conditions and no roads.

Product arrived in perfect condition, works fantastic.

My contact there was John Hilton. Great job John! You just earned the company a fan for life.

Total price including overnight shipping $2275.. thats sweet. Now to fill out the rebate and play. I LOVE this cam!

Chris Hurd January 9th, 2004 01:44 AM

Thanks for taking the time to report your experience, Dwain. We're proud to have John and the rest of the EVS gang on our team here at DV Info Net.

Express Video Supply (EVS)

It's always such a delight to discover an excellent new dealer, particularly when they're one of our new sponsors.

Wanting to give EVS a try, I purchased a Panasonic AG-DVX100A from these folks (online) during the past weekend. They featured a very competive price on the camera and (at least when I made my purchase) they offered free 3-day FedEx shipment. I received an immediate email confirmation of my order. The following Monday morning I received an email (from a human) thanking me for my order and, shortly thereafter, a FedEx tracking number. The camera arrived precisely on time.

EVS features an impressive selection of gear. The next time you're looking for something consider giving them a look. They certainly have my thumbs-up and Chris also gets my thumbs-up for bringing them to DVInfo!

Nick Kerpchar January 23rd, 2004 07:45 AM

Ken,
Thanks for the info. I had missed or overlooked the fact that EVS is now a sponsor of the forum. What a great lineup of sponsors this forum has!

EVS and Canadian Orders

Hi, I just placed an order for a tripod and head at EVS. I read the information on one of the forums which suggested that I get the 3221 WN / 501 package for my XL1S. I also ordered the ball leveler 3502. The total is $338.90 which seems very reasonable to me. I want to thank all the people who contributed to the discussion on tripods and heads. It was very helpful. The other reason I'm starting this thread is because the site makes it difficult for Canadians to order. I tried contacting EVS using the 1 800 238 8480 number but when I dialed it said that the number was unavailable from my location (Vancouver). I have placed the order and recieved notification by email. I still don't know the shipping charges or who will be the shipper. I have sent an email back requesting this information but I feel EVS needs to update their information or change the 1 800 number to make it easier for Canadian consumers. I could have ordered from a different company but I am trying to support the sponsors. I ordered a boom mike from lightwave and had no problems at all.

David Stone February 24th, 2004 05:01 PM

I was contacted by John Hilton who indicated that they are looking into a 1 800 number for Canadian buyers. John has been great! He responded very quickly to my enquiries and I'm very happy with the service.

Frank Granovski February 24th, 2004 05:32 PM

What's their e-mail address?

David Stone February 25th, 2004 10:23 AM

John Hilton [john@evsonline.com]

Frank Granovski February 25th, 2004 02:42 PM

Thanks.

David Stone February 25th, 2004 05:35 PM

The 3221 WN / 501 package for my XL1S with the ball leveler 3502 arrived today. I hooked it up and it works great. Thanks to all the members who recommended it! I would also like to thank EVS for their prompt service and John Hilton in particular. I also ordered a wired boom pole (GT - 10) from Lightwave audio systems. Thomas Dyer was really helpful and I would also recommend Lightwave to other Canadian consumers. His email is: Thomas Dyer [lws@lightwavesystems.com].

800 number valid for Canada

We have finally added our Canadian customers to our 800-238-8480. Welcome aboard!

I tried EVS, I'm not impressed...

Well I tried EVS when B&H was closed. Ordered ME64/K6 last Monday the 12th. Was told it was in stock. Never got a confirmation so I called on Friday the 16th and it hadn't been shipped yet. They didnt have one in stock after all, apparently. They said they would try to get one drop shipped from the manufacturer and would call me back the same day. No call on Friday or Monday. I called again today and they were going to check into it and call me within a half hour they said. Hours later, again no call back. With B&H I had placed an order while they were closed and got an email that it shipped the first day they were open. Cancelling the order and ordering from B&H now.

I'm sure they have been good for others, and I'm sure this isn't the norm based on the posts I've seen, but they haven't been good for me. Stuff happens but Ill go back to old reliable, B&H.

Chris Hurd April 21st, 2004 12:32 AM

Thanks for the report. EVS always appreciates feedback. I'll make sure they see it.

Rob Easler April 22nd, 2004 05:47 PM

I have my mic now. Thank you B&H.

Jean-Philippe Archibald April 22nd, 2004 06:51 PM

B&H rocks! It is faster (and at current dollar exchange rate cheaper!) for me to buy gears accross the border from B&H shipped through UPS than to wait until my local camera store get the gears I want in stock.

I like EVS

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got great service from EVS (West Coast). Ordered a Miller DS5 Solo and when I got it, it was damaged. This was not done in transit. It looked like someone had cut the zipper tab off of the tripod case with tin snips or something, and the rubber surface on the QR plate was abraided. I called EVS and told them about it. EVS handled the return with no problem. After I shipped it to them, I decided that I may as well go with the DS10, so I called them to upgrade. Again, no problem, they just added the difference to my charges. Everyone that I spoke to was curteous and professional.

I plan to make all future purchases from them.

Ken Tanaka June 19th, 2004 01:25 AM

Thanks for posting your experience, Nick. EVS is a real top-notch operation with which many members have had similar positive experiences (including me).

We're very proud to have them among our sponsors.

Gary Siu July 7th, 2004 04:04 AM

I too had great experience with EVS

Hat's off EVS, I ordered a Pelican 1650 case and a case of Panasonic MQ tapes - FLAWLESS transaction, and I'm in Canada! Cheers!

I just received shipment of my Panasonic AG-DVX100A today from EVS. Rush Hamdem was extremely helpful and went out of his way to help me make the transaction go through for overnight shipping.

Cheers to EVS.

Christopher Go August 25th, 2004 02:55 AM

Yes, Rush and the guys at EVS take excellent care of you. Email responses are quick, they are never pushy over the phone, and are great people to work with. Highly recommended!

Bob Zimmerman November 4th, 2004 01:08 PM

I was comparing prices for the Sony PD-170. EVS and B & H have about the same price. EVS sounds like they treat customers pretty good. I place Broadway Photo has the price $200 less than both EVS and B&H. I wonder if there is a catch?

I will probably go with a sponsor of this board.

Ken Tanaka November 4th, 2004 01:30 PM

Don't even think of Broadway Photo, Bob. Yes, there is a "catch". They're famous bottom-dwellers.

Bob Zimmerman November 5th, 2004 10:57 AM

Thanks Ken. I've noticed no one mentions them on this board. Not a good sign!

Ken Tanaka November 5th, 2004 11:27 AM

Here is a relatively recent small thread on them. We actually have many references to Broadway Photo like this (Search).

Will Boggs December 17th, 2004 05:13 PM

I just took delivery of a new DVX100A package and am really glad I bought it from EVS. After reading about the famous Rush on this site I gave them a try and am comfortable in saying they will be one of my main go to places for gear (ZGC the other). Rush was very helpful and seemed like an all around nice guy.

I have been a long time B&H buyer for about ten years and needed a DVX as part of my gear package. The last time I called them I wasn't treated well, even though I have been directly responsible for over $100K worth of purchaces over the years. I also have a major problem with B&H's shipping department and how they use it as a profit center. Now I know and realize there are expenses involved with shipping, the price of boxes, packing material, labor, etc. However, B&H probably gets an incredible deal on their shipping rates from all the major companies like UPS and FedEx so, they should be able to pass on the savings to their customers. I always felt I was getting ripped off on the shipping at B&H.

After this latest call to B&H a few days ago I told myself I am done with them. I called EVS and I have found a new home. Rush treated me like a friend instead of treating me like a schmuck.

When the bill was totalled up I asked Rush to ship it over night. Fearing at least $150 I braced myself. Rush shocked me by charging me less than half of that. After the friendly help and professional courtesy (plus reasonable and fair shipping charges) I have to recomend that anyone who wants gear call EVS.

EVS is not alone, I have to give the same props to ZGC. They have always been at the top of my list.

EVS - Tommy

Just a quick word to echo what others have said about EVS....Tommy in particular has been very helpful with my recent order. There have been a few bumps but they have taken care of them and so far I couldn't be more pleased with the service.

Looking forward to getting my camera and will surely use them again in the future.

Express Video Supply is the best!

I must say I’m totally delighted with one of DVInfo sponsors/suppliers. The company is EVS (Express Video Supply) out of California. I suddenly needed another tripod and thought I would try EVS. So on Sunday I placed the order online for a Cartoni Action Pro. Monday morning, yesterday, I called EVS (from Central Mexico using Skype, 4 cents per minute to anywhere in the world) and connected with a salesman, mentioned that I’m a ‘regular’ at DVI, he told me it was a holiday in the US, Columbus day, he was the only person at the store but he would see what he could do. His name is Ramsey and he was sooo obliging, incredibly courteous, extremely helpful, and guess what; this morning I received confirmation that my tripod shipped yesterday and now it’s on the way with FedEx.

And the price was $30 better than B&H. I have purchased from B&H before but have never had service like this. Now I’ll agree B&H are not bad but EVS are way better IMO. I know where I’m shopping in the future. Thanks Ramsey and EVS, great service. I’ll be back.

Greg Boston October 11th, 2005 08:21 AM

Just ordered some merchandise from them myself. I too spoke with Ramsey. Turns out he's from the Dallas area originally and was familiar with my location. Anyway, just echoing what you said. Good customer service. That's why they were chosen to be a sponsor. Chris is very adamant about protecting the user's experience when dealing with online vendors.

Eric Brown October 11th, 2005 09:03 PM

EVS is indeed great. I live nearby so I buy 95% of my stuff from them. Ramsey has waited on me before as well. Very cool guy.

Jerry Porter October 19th, 2005 08:25 AM

I just placed my first order there due to B&H being closed almost the entire month of October. So I hope I have the same results. We'll see. Prices were better.

Jerry Porter October 20th, 2005 10:16 AM

Ok gotta agree here my filters have already arrived and look great. B&H may be getting less of my money from now on.

Eric Brown October 20th, 2005 04:25 PM

Yeah, It's been a bit frustrating to buy from the this month. Otherwise they are awesome. I just picked up the JVC TMH-150CGU for $509.00 on their site. Great monitor. I usually buy from EVS and will continue to do so, but sometimes...B&H offers a deal I can't resist.

Ian E. Pearson October 21st, 2005 07:52 PM

I agree

I love EVS. One time they were supposed to call me back but they didnt, but other than that they've been great. I cannot stand B&H. I got a horrible first impression of them when I placed my first order a couple weeks ago.

Jerry Porter October 25th, 2005 01:10 PM

Ok here's round 2 with EVS let's see if they hold true. I just ordered a Lowel DV55 light kit from them and a couple of other small items. The shipping was steep, but lets see if it was worth it. HELLLOOOO B&H that's about 2K this month they got instead of you. OPEN during October.

Jerry Porter October 27th, 2005 11:57 AM

Second report on EVS it's better than the first the stuff is great it showed up a day or maybe even 2 early and my call for a tracking number was returned promptly. I think they are my new main store.

Rush Hamden December 4th, 2005 09:15 PM

I just wanted to say Thank you on behalf of Ramsey. I have relayed this thread to him. He is a very kind and thoughtful person, and he always appreciates a pat on the shoulder. This will definitely brighten up his Monday morning inbox. : ) Thanks again everyone, we are proud to serve you and all other forum members.

Rush Hamden March 19th, 2006 03:18 PM

Rush Hamden no longer at EVS

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to make a small announcement that I have left EVS to pursue a filmmaking gig. I can't give much information about it, but it ends near the end of April, at which point I will be able to post about it and take new gigs. I will the DP on that gig, and I also got offered a Directing job as well.

It has been wonderful serving all of you at EVS, and I wanted to say that I appreciate everything that Chris and the rest of the DVinfo gang have done for me in the past 3 years. I enjoyed speaking to you on the phone, and helping anyone who needed me. Now that I have more free time on certain days, I will be on here more often, helping whoever I can. If anyone has any questions, any at all, please feel free to email me at ProductionRush@sbcglobal.net, or send me a private message through the DVinfo forum.

In closing I would like to add that EVS still has 3 stellar individuals working the phones: Tommy Mack, Randy Wedick, and Ramzi Abed. They will be able to assist you in your future needs. Tommy specializes in audio, Randy and Ramzi in lighting and filmmaking.

Best of luck to you in all in your endeavours.

Rush Hamden.

Rob Lohman March 19th, 2006 05:17 PM

Thanks for all of your support Rush and good luck with everything ahead!

Rush Hamden March 19th, 2006 07:16 PM

Thanks Rob, it's a long road ahead. : )
