how to buy/get archive footage

How can I find (and buy some rights for use) footage from particular sport event. I saw it was used on ESPN in Sunday Conversation program. I tried to look in their archives but unsuccessfuly. It is footage from 70' surfing competitions.

Marius, contact ESPN directly though it is possible they licensed the footage from the original filmmaker. If you're lucky you'll find someone that will take the time to help you.
