Sony FX1 and 1080i to 24fps

I posted a question about this in the Vegas forum, but perhaps it is more appropriate here:

- Vegas does a wonderful de-interlace to 24fps.
- The new Sony HD cam will be 1080i.

So,

If you combine both, or as the case may be, if you add Connect Hd, and run the film-look conversion, won't the final output be something like 720 24P and ready for Canne?

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like until the next big thing comes out, the above system (FX1, Vegas, Connect HD) is almost approaching Cinealta proportions.

Is this correct, or if not, what else has to happen?
