Euro flicker

Heading to Hungary next week - shooting something for a video mostly being produced over here in the states. We're shooting NTSC and I'm concerned because in a number of our locations we will be relying on overhead fluorescents. In theory, if we were to set our shutter to 1/50 (syncro scan), we could avoid seeing any flicker from the 50hz lights. Does anyone have any experience to support this idea?

Thanks a lot!
