DJI Ronin in place of Jib?
Hello!
I am wondering if the DJI Ronin can replace a Jib for someone like me who does most shooting while traveling and would like to get good stable jib-like shots with a portable unit. I am willing to buy a jib if I have to, but for me the issue is not money, rather travel. I like to carry as little as possible, and I am just wondering if I can get the same results with the DJI Ronin as I could with a jib such as the porta-Jib. All advice realy appreciated. Thank you! Re: DJI Ronin in place of Jib?
Can't get up high or down low with the handheld stabilizer. Can't do crazy stuff like over water/over the edge/flying shots with the stabilizer.
Overall, I'd say the stabilizer is a vastly different tool than a jib, more comparable to a steadicam. Mostly, my clients want "wow" factor, and when it comes down to packing a 16' crane or packing a handheld stabilizer, I'd take the handheld 10 times out of 10, and just choose different "wow" shots. To re-create those jib shots without a jib, try a quadcopter. Also easy to pack, but with it's own set of problems. |
