Removing the Viewfinder

I need to send my HD-100 to be repaired (the old split-screen, would you believe it?) and in order to fit in the styrofoam cutout the camera shipped in it seems the viewfinder needs to be removed.

I don't remember exactly how it was packed when I received it (except that the lens and microphone were not attached). Does anyone know how to take off the viewfinder for shipping?

I read on a JVC website that they recommend removing it before shipping, but they didn't say how to do it!

Any help will be mucho appreciated as I need to send it soon (warranty almost up!)

Thanks.

Maat,
  1. Remove the VF cable by pulling straight out
  2. Loosen the Lock Dial completely
  3. Slide the VF out until it stops
  4. Pull and hold the round metal button (spring loaded) while you slide the VF the rest of the way out.

Thanks Tim for the help. I wondered whether that knob might do something but I didn't play with it. I should have.
