Firestore DRHD-100 noise
I just acquired the firestore DRHD100 and am pretty thrilled at the whole thing - no more data transfer, no more fear of shattering financial pain every time I plug and unplug the firewire cable.
However, I do have one question. I am capturing via my onboard mic a high pitched whining noise which is the DRHD100 in operation. Is this normal? For those times when I have to rely upon the onboard mic I am having to clean up the sound - admittedly pretty easy to do as the sound is pretty localised at a certain frequency point. Rob |

Hi Joseph. Thanks for your reply.
It is not the stock mic which I threw away immediately as it essentially a toy. I also record sound professionally so I can tell you that it is not a problem either with the levels or the microphone which is a Rode NTG-1. I just did a little test by digitising from the tapes and found that the sound is not in fact present on the tapes. This would indicate that the problem is with the recorder. Rob |
