Maintenance - where, when, how much?
My HD100 has about 200 hours on it and I'm starting to get some dropouts occasionally. Running a head cleaner doesn't seem to help. Should I send it in for cleaning/adjustment/calibration/checkup? If so, where? How much does it cost? Is this something I should do every XXX hours?

Chris,
JVC has a service center in Aurora Illinois. I don't have any contacts there anymore but they took very good and quick care of my camera for me when i was using the 5000U I think the center is listed on the JVC website with phone #s and address.

I was having a problem with image and audio drop out and sent my HD100 to the JVC Pro California location and I have to tell you they are amazing. They kept me updated with the progress on my camera and understood I needed them to keep the cost down and they did a great job. My camera came back looking like it was brand new. You can call ahead and get an idea what it will cost you for the basic cleaning and check up. I would get it looked at, mine continued to get so bad I had no choice but to send it in after having to re-shoot several hours of footage.

I'd also recommend Full Compass, here in Madison, Wisconsin. They're a full-service JVC service center too.
See this thread http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/jvc-gy-h...irewire-2.html for my post about how they handled my blown firewire port on my JVC HD100. |
