The plan is to record to FireStore AND tape, with the tape going home and on a shelf 'just in case'. |

Subjectively and most definitely not proven, the Sony Z1 seems to have the edge on the JVC GY-HD*** for low light. However, once there is gain noise in the image, the sharpness of Sony's version of HDV seems to fall apart more than JVC's version.
