GY-HD100 problem/repair/reseller advice

Hi guys,

My JVC-HD100 doesn't record or pick up any sound, other than a TAP TAP TAP.

So I sent it to JVC service support. They said it needs a new optical board, an HJK power thing and something else. All amounting to $1300. Of course, this isn't worth it.

JVC shipped the camera back, I checked it out. Lo & behold, now I have this problem.

This tried filming and get the same thing. The split green/blue. I was intending on getting it fixed and selling it for something else. Now I think I'll just have to take a big loss, and don't even know if I'll beable to sell it.

Would any of you recommend any dealers/resellers, or should I just ebay it?
Thanks for any advice

Hi, Warner............

Just to get this straight.

You sent it in with problems. Repair cost: $1300.

Didn't go for it.

You get it back, now it's even worse?

And you're asking about selling it? To whom?

A deaf, dumb and blind, mentally challenged paraplegic?

Get real, try land fill (recyclings good).

Sorry, but...........

Umm...No, there are people out there who actually buy damaged goods, like computers, and cameras. These people are called "resellers" they will buy for parts then "refurbish" the equipment, & resell for a profit. There's many of them out there.

Your camera still has many usable parts, such as the lens, viewfinder, batteries and more. Either try a post here in the for sale forum or list it on eBay. A quick check on eBay shows the lens alone going between $360 and $775, the viewfinder might fetch $50 or more, I bet you'd get $50 for the mic, and if you have the Anton-Bauer Dionic 90 with Titan charger, you might get another $300-$400.

All that's left is the bad body. However, there's a chap here (Randy Johnson) who has an HD110 with a blown firewire port. I'd bet your camera body can be used as a capture deck for him.

There you go, I've just found you $800 or better for your broken camera that someone else suggested you throw in the landfill.

Chris,

Thanks so much for the invaluable info, and for referring Randy. He is interested in the jvc body.
