SD Output While Shooting 720p

I've been looking at this camera for more than a few months and I was wondering.......Does the camera output standard def ntsc while recording in 720p HDV mode. I always use a field monitor but do you need a high def monitor when shooting HDV. Thanks, Jason.

Yes. It has a built in donwconverter for analog composite out. The component out does not seem to downconvert - only sticks to HD.
