Base plate needed for HD-100

Hi,

Ben Buie and I are evaluating buying the HD100.

I heard that the HD 100 may require a special base plate for tripod use or can't be mounted with a normal tripod screw...

True or False?

What does the Base plate cost, if this is true?

Hi Ed

I Paid £160 which is about $300 I guess. I think this is the plate you're refering to i.e. the jvc quick release but I may be wrong. Hope this helps. I think there is a reference to it on the jvc site under accessories.

P.S. I'm gonna take my rods off tomorrow so I'll check if the screw on my 503 head fits the 100 or not (that's if someone doesn't let you know first)

It's okay, the camera does have a standard 1/4"x20 threaded hole on the bottom so it can be mounted to any head with that fitting.

JVC offers a separate quick-release plate kit as an accessory, but it's not required.
