Maxell Cassette Rewinder

With all this talk of switching tape brands and qualities, it got me wondering about the Maxell Cassette Rewinder I used to rewind our tapes, rather than use the camera's resources to do so. Can anyone attest to the sense of using a cheap rewinder that's a few years old and of a different brand? Would running a head cleaner in the rewinder be a wise idea? Thanks, guys.

The Maxell rewinder is cheap but works until the cheap factor overwhelms the unit. I would be careful and not use it again once it starts acting strange. It almost wrecked a couple of tapes at my office. I threw it out.

Maybe someone will invent a pro rewinder, I would buy one. Until that happens I recommend using a deck or the camera.

William,

Thank you very much for your reply. Ironically, I think the cheap factor occurred hours after I started this thread. Both tapes I was trying to rewound did so for only a few seconds and stopped.
