GY-HD110U SDI Digital Output

Does the GY-HD110U have an SDI Digital Output for a field monitor?

Since I am looking at the GY-HD110U and the Marshall V-R-70P-HD/SDI.

I am manily shooting drama so focus is cruical.

If there is anSDI Digital Output on theGY-HD110U what are peoples thoughts about the difference between Marshall the V-R-70P-HD/SDI over the V-R-70P-HDA?

The 110 had component out for the monitor.

The new 250 has SDI out.

For the most critical focusing, I have found that the 7" monitor is not 100% adequate.

The Marshall 7" monitors are universally used on all the cameras. However, many people also use a large monitor for focusing and checking the picture. If you can see the 7" monitor somewhere on a camera that is working, you will see the limitations regarding focusing.

I have a flat panel TV (23") for monitoring and focusing. It is not adequate for color and related, but it shows very clearly if focus is right or not.

The V-R-70P-HDA is great but I found that there is some sort of firmware in the monitor that needs to be upgraded to properly display the image from the HD100/110 analogue component connectors. Otherwise, the picture receives horizontal tearing at random intervals. My monitor is at Marshall right now but once I have it back here I will let you know. Also, I bought it some time early this year so it's possible that the newer units already have the upgraded firmware.

Jiri,

I will be very interested in your outcome. Could you please update as soon has you have some information. Since I will be buying the Marshall unit from the US to use in France. So sending it back for repairs would be something I really want to avoid. Outside its image quality I am learning towards this monitor due to peoples suggestions within this forum and others as it being the Field Monitor to have.

Thanks
Simon

Jiri,

Just another question. I have just checked out your website and in particular under cinematography looked at "Tomorrow's Memoir" & "Chain Mail."

Please tell me these were shot with the JVC GY-HD100?

Beautiful work. I am more excited about these clips since they are drama and alot of the video examples I've see tend to be nature vidoes rather than what I am interested in eg Drama.

Jiri... Interesting.

I also own the Marshall VR70P-HDA.

I bought it last March.
The intemittent horizontal tearing you mentioned, how visible was this problem?
I'm not sure if I've seen any issues with this monitor.

Also, how can I find out if my monitor has the upgraded firmware?

thxs, Steve
