SONY Vegas and the HD100/24P

Hey guys, I have been spending time over at the Avid boards enlightening many who bought Avid assuming it would work with our wonderful camera and now they can't edit and a question about Vegas came up.

For the record, I edit on FCP, and know that Premiere, Liquid, FCP, and Canopus all handle 720/24P HDV, but was unsure about Vegas. Can you guys get back to me so I can answer the persons question. Basically, does it work?

I am trying as much as I can to spread the distaste I have over at the Avid message boards...I hope others are doing the same.

Steve, Vegas 7 works great with the HD100. The latest (7d) is arguably the most stable NLE for the HD100's 720/24p. Stable meaning no issues with capturing, editing, print to tape, etc.

Another vote for Vegas and the JVC HD100. The combo works great, 24p is no problem.

Indeed - no issues whatsoever with Vegas and all JVC HDxxx models actually - the higher framrate of the hd200/hd201/hd250/hd251 is also supported. And it is has full manual control over frame-rate adjusting (resampling).

Not only Vegas works great but it's also the only NLE from the ones you mentioned that during the conversion from HDV footage to RGB it doesn't clip Superwhite and Superblack information.

Maybe Premiere Pro CS3 has also improved on the subject but i didn't have the oportunity to check it yet.
