UK - Extended warranty for a HM100?
I'm going to buy a couple of HM100's next week which will mainly be used for travel related films in Europe, Africa, Asia etc.
I'd like to look at purchasing extended warranties as the camera's will have a hard life. Does anybody offer an extended warranty option either when you purchase or afterwards? Else I'll just go for the cheapest seller which seems to be Creative Video at the moment. Insurance is difficult as I will be out of the UK 90% of the time traveling in a vehicle which are usually barriers. Many thanks! |

You could try a MAC warranty, I dont know much about them. Calumet photo sell them on their website. It may well be a condition that you buy the equipment from them as well.

At least in the US JVC itself is offering an extended warranty. You might want to check the JVC website...

Hi John...............
Extended waranties specifically exclude repairs caused by rough handling or physical damage to the item concerned and are thus no replacement for insurance, which is almost impossible to get for business travel purposes.
They're absolutely no use whatsoever if you are not in the country where the warranty was taken out. Given that pretty well all the studies of extended warranties in the UK have concluded that they are a very expensive con job and quite often not worth the paper they're printed on, to think they'll somehow cover the type of repairs "hard use" will necessitate is wishfull thinking in the extreme. If these are being used in the course of business, especially overseas travel, forget both insurance and extended warranties and just accept loss or damage as a legitimate but unfortunate business expense. Save your money. Enjoy your travels. CS |
