Basic Workflow for the SD cards
 

I spent some time today dumping footage of my Canon with DV tapes.

I went to grab the footage from the SD card...
I put the SD card in my card reader.
I found the files, but each file is in a separate directory?

Am I missing something?

I should have added this is my first time using the JVC GY-HM100
And I have VideoStudio Pro

that is true, but it is simple to find all the clips recorded on the card with a little trick.
In the main folder you search with the explorer to mp4 an discover direcly all the needed files you can copy in a separate folder to have them all together and import in your editing system.

what editing software do you use?
If it is Avid Media Composer, then you can go to "File/Connect to AMA Volume", maneuver to the volume on the SDHC card called "JVC", and click o.k. You will instantly have access to all video clips. The show up in the bin together with some meta data. The HM100 need to be set-up to MP4 recording mode.

If you want to go an intermediate step, you could copy the whole SDHC-card to your harddisk, and select the JVC volume here.

In the case you use Final Cut Pro, you have also instant access to the media, provided you have set the HM100 to Quicktime recording mode.

I ended up just transferring direct off the video card.
Seemed clunky, but it worked.

I need to get a faster way to transfer the card.
I have a nice fast fireware CF card reader.
Now I need an adapter for my SD cards...

Gunther's suggestion is what I do. just do a search for *.mp4 and just point to the card ( in my case, it's "N") and then copy over.

Hi Greg, did you get this to work?
I am still searching for a better way of offloading from SD cards.
If anyone can get better than i gig a minute (roughly) PLEEEEZE
tell me/us about it.
I have tried CF adaptors, express-cards and every standalone reader I can find... but they all seem to think
USB2 speed is just fine. I have 14 hours of conference X 2 HM100 coming up and I am not looking forward to the long nights back in the hotel wrangling the data.

On the CD is a software to import your files. Sony has a better one.
