Mp4 not working on avid

Hey guys, I have a problem!

I recorded some footage on GY-HM700 and tried to import the files into avid but they dont work. Its my fault, when i was copying the files i only copied clip folders, not the entire bovp folder. I tried to convert .mp4 into .mxf with clip browser and it doesnt work. is there any way i can get this footage into avid? it has to be avid, its part of my assessment.

Cheers,
Tomasz

MP4 and Avid

Tomasz,
Avid Media Composer can easily work with files created under Sony's XDCamXe specification. With Avid's AMA-feature, you have direct access to the video clips created by Sony's XDCamEX camcorders or by JVC's GY-HM100/700/790. I myself have the JVC GY-HM700, and enjoy the quick and easy access to video clips.
My workflow is as follws:
1. I put the recorded SDHC-cards into a USB-card reader.
2. I use Sony's Clip Browser (version 1.6) to copy the whole structure to one of my harddisks.
3. I use Avid's AMA feature to get access to the whole folder.

For test purposes I have also used Clip Browser to create AAF-files for direct Media Composer import, and the Clip Browser function to create MXF-files for other editing systems. With both mechanisms, standard import into Media Composer works fine. However the quickest way is the one described above.
You may even not use the Clip Browser and copy the whole folder structure from your SDHC-card to harddisk by using Microsoft Explorer. To me the Clip Browser has the advantage, that I can selectively copy clips form the SDHC-card to harddisk without having any knowledge about the folder and file structure. Clip Browser takes care of this.
