Panasonic AG-DV1000 Deck - stop ejecting my tapes already!

Hello Folks,

I have a Panasonic AG-DV1000 deck that worked fine up until a month or so ago. Now whenever I put a tape in (same tape that worked a month ago), it immediately ejects it. Maybe it doesn't like the taste? Tried getting Panasonic to help. No reply to several e-mails and calls.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rick

Does it eject all tapes or just that one? If it's just that one, it could be the tape is somehow stuck inside its cassette, like one reel is in a bind. Or if the deck does the same thing to all tapes, then it's obviously something in the deck's mechanism and it'll probably require service.

hah...that was a while ago

happens on all tapes. Sure, I could take it to a service shop. But for the price of fixing it, I could find a used one that is working (most likely).

I have no problem taking things apart. Most of my gear has been disassembled/reassembled by me many times and (except for this) my gear continues to work.

So, if anyone has any tips on parts suppliers or service manuals I'd be interested.

I have had this deck for at least 5 years, and haven't had any problems yet, knock on wood. You can download the users manual here.

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/AGDV1000.PDF

After reading through it, I didn't see anything that might help other than on the last page it gives some error codes. It's a good deck and your problem might be minor. It's worth the time to take the cover off so you can see what's happening when you insert a tape.
