Sony HVR-M35U HDV and Canon 60i HDV Problems

Hello hello,

our shopped has purchased a Sony HVR-M35U HDV VTR since it market to play back JVC and Canon's HDV format.
Today we have received tapes from a Canon XL H1s in 1080i/60i.
But the deck won't playback the tapes... timecode is counting up but no sound nor picture. Just a black static display where you can see the 2CH icon pop up for a sec.
We called in the Camera to get the capture going... but we also did a test in all formats SD and HD from 60i to 24f.
No luck only the SD footage will pop with horrible artifacts.

To the camera it has a run time of 100 hours and it will play back all tapes with no issue.

Where could he issue be?

Was the tape in question recorded at SP (Standard Speed) or LP (Long Play) speed?

If it's LP then that speed is well known for NOT playing bacK correctly on most other cameras.

Try a head cleaning with your DV cleaning tape, or try playing that problem tape back in another camera.

Failing that, take it to a pro shop. Good luck.

Cheers.

Yeah that was my first thought but then the SD footage wouldn't show ether right?
But the tapes are in SP and they played fine on another Camera. :(

Have you run a head cleaning tape? Take it all into a pro shop?

Cheers.
