Digital8 tape deck rental?

I am in the midst of a project capturing hours and hours of old Digital8 tape through a SONY TRV 310. The Sony died. Anybody know where I can rent a deck with firewire output in the Chicagoland area? Thanks

Jay, if you can't find a rental I have a couple of used GV-D200s I'm planning on putting on eBay after the first of the year. Let me know if you are interested in one before then.

I happen to have a Sony TRV140. It was given to me as a gift, from my mother, brand new many many years ago. Used it for a few months, before the sensor or something went out. I never sent it in to be fixed or replaced. It won't film anything, but the player functions work just fine. I just pulled it out, plugged in the wall, and watched the raw footage for a music video I filmed.

Id be willing to give to you, for the cost of shipping. Pm me if interested.

Re: Digital8 tape deck rental?

Your offer is most kind. Thank You.

Out of desperation, I googled my problem; Jittery audio & video during playback after no useage.

Lo and behold, there were many with similar issues and the fix was easy.

Simply rapping on the bottom of the camera with my knuckles a couple of times and WA-LA, smooth play back!

What would we do without Google?

I*m afraid your luck will not last for long.

What you will need is probably a serious tape path cleaning. A cleaning tape might do the trick, but there is no guarantee.
