The tapes will still be fine when the phone stops working.
I use the box from a failed hard drive to keep some tapes in. :-) |

Good idea Andrew .. when a cleaner tape runs out just throw the tape.

3.5" hard drives also fit spiffily in the plastic clamshell VHS cases (though you may have to trim out a spindle locator if the case has one)

I use an old 3.5" floppy case to hold some CD/DVDs. Yes, I go back THAT far with computers.
