Making My Own Monopod

Anyone have any luck converting a ski pole into a monopod?
Anyone have a source for an adapter that can mount to a
ski pole that will screw into the camera?

Thanks.

By the time you buy the adapter plate you may as well buy an inexpensive monopod. The ski pole would also be a tad short wouldn't it. JMO

Don't know about ski poles, but I've seen high tech walking sticks with a 1/4 x 20 screw for use as a monopod. Try rei.com.

The poles are extendable cross country poles so I think they come up to about eye level. I haven't dragged one up from the basement yet so I'm going on memory.

If it's more expensive I probably won't go that route. It just seems "nice" to reuse something. Kind of negative snob appeal.
