nanoflash, nexto and actual storage capacity
Recently recieved my two nexto 2725 devices (with 500GB internal hard disk). Works great, 32 GB in about 18", with my Sandisk Extreme 32 GB 60MB/s cards.
However, when empty, the nexto indicates a storage capacity of 462,5 GB instead of 500 GB. Suppose that has to do with the difference between the commercial and technical size of 1 GB. What surprises me more is this:the device now does not ingest the content from my CF card, because of lack of space, while it indicates that storage capacity still is 48 GB. My card however is only 32 GB. With 462,6 GB to start with and 48 GB I cannot use at the end, almost 20% of the supposed capacity is not there. Anyone else with this experience and suggestions how to get access to the last 48 GB on the disk? |

Storage manufacturers rate storage where 1000 bytes = a kilobyte and computers report storage as 1024 bytes = kilobyte. Also, the filesystem itself takes space so 460GB for a 500GB drive is correct.
Note being able to copy a 32GB card to 48GB of space probably has to do with the nexto reserving a bit of space for something. |
