Any suggestions on DV500 upgrade

Hi

Have had the Pinnacle DV500 for around 3 years now doing mainly event stuff and small ads. I've been let down with PC crashing a lot not to mention it's not a true real-time card esp. with 3rd party plug-ins like Hollywood fx etc. Has anyone else out there moved across from Pinnacle DV500 to Canopus Storm2 and been happy with their decision. Is Edius the way to go with the Storm 2 rather than Premiere Pro. Would like to hear everyones experiences.

Regards

Hi Paul,

Matrox are currently doing a promotion where you can trade in your DV500 card and get a discount on an RTX 100 extreme card. I would highly recommend it, if your computer has the power. Premiere Pro works really well with it.

You get realtime DV output, realtime MPEG 2 encoding and loads of useful real-time effects.

I heard that Canopus has had trouble with making Premiere Pro work with their boards, i'm not to sure whether it has been resolved yet? There was a petition on the net somewhere... However Edius seems to be 'coming of age' and has some good features.

Cheers,

Thanks Ed ...... will actually be in England on holiday for a month as of next week. Do you perhaps know of any specialist AV / PC editing stores one could visit for perhaps a demo of Matrix, or Storm for that matter ... around the London area as we will be staying near Bromley ??

Cheers mate !

Hi Paul,

There are many companies around in London that offer these cards. Your first stop will probably Tottenham Court Road. See what the retailers there have to offer.

But you should be relaxing on your holidays!!!
