Separate Instrument and Vocal

Hi, I was reading a tutorial for AE 6.5 and it showed how to make a created character's mouth move to audio. I'm trying to do this, only I want my character's mouth to move to a song. Unfortunately, the mouth moves at every little bit of audio, including the instrumental part. Is there a way in Audition to separate vocals from instrumentals in a song? Thanks.

I very much doubt it if the Instruments and vocals are mixed into the same file.

You could probably try and reduce one or the other, but I doubt you will get rid of one completely. If however the song was recorded with the vocals on the left and the instruments were on the right (or visa versa), then it'll be a little bit more easier.

Hope this helps,
