Re: Editing Program With Real Time Clock Facility?

I'm sure things will fall into place with an upgraded system. CS6 loves ram, and needs an nVidia graphics card matching Adobe's specs to take advantage of the Mercury engine's GPU rendering...good luck, let us know how things are going!

Hi Battle

I have 8 meg of RAM to begin with. Would you recommend that I purchase more? My machine will accommodate up to 16 meg.

My thinking is you can never be too rich or have too much ram, but that's just me. If you specify large ram sticks and leave some empty slots, you can always add more later.

Re: Editing Program With Real Time Clock Facility?

The RAM comes in sticks of 4 and there are two more slots allowing a maximum of 16 in total.

The motherboard came with it's own graphics card installed and it is not nvidia. I will give it a go and see how it performs but might need to purchase a invidia if performance is not good.

What are the advantages of using an invidia card?

Re: Editing Program With Real Time Clock Facility?

The Mercury engine in Premiere specifically uses features ("Cuda cores") in certain nVidia cards to process the rendering function using the graphics card hardware, rather than the (much slower) software alternative. The hardware features are specific to nVIdia.

There are numerous threads on this subject in the Adobe section, which you can find with a dvinfo search. You might want to take a look at the specs for Premiere at adobe.com, they publish the recommended and required hardware setups to function correctly.
