Major rendering slowdown after HD replacement

A few months ago I had to replace a dead hard drive in my 2.6Ghz Dell laptop. After I reinstalled XP and all of my software and resumed work, my rendering times are over twice what they were before.

I'm dealing with it now but wondered if anyone else has run into this issue and figured it out.

Which application are you using to render?

Is the speed of the replacement hard drive the same as your old one? A slower one would cause a bit of slow down, but I don't think it would be twice as slow.

(are you wvlightning?)
