Channel effect

Hello!

I'm using AE 5.0 and looking to accomplish the following...

You know the channel selector on the comp window? When you select the RG or B...you get the respective channel as a grayscale representation.

I'm trying to extract a clip's singular (RG or B) channel information, and use a blending mode on the same clip's color version underneath.

Is there a switch/effect to only view one channel of a clip in the timeline? The switch on the comp window is exactly what I'm looking for...but it needs to be render-able.

Thanks in advance!

There isn't a switch to achieve what you want. But you should look at the Channel Mixer (if you want simpler manipulation) or Channel Arithmetic filters.

Just make two copies of your track, one above the other, and apply the filter to the upper one.
