Vaio question for Douglas Spotted Eagle

Hey Douglas,

Are you still liking your Sony VAIO FE690PB Notebook?

In my months research I'm leaning heavily towards it.

By the way, where did you get yours?

Thanks.

Looks like Douglas is busy... here's one from a happy Vaio laptop owner.

I bought one 3 years ago (a PCG-GRV550, top model back in 2003) with a 16 inch screen, 2.4 GHz Intel P4 and I still love it! The only limitation I have is the RAM, I whish I could upgrade but hardware (or software?) limits me to 512 Megs. Even with the original 4200 rpm hard drive I can capture and edit video no problems.

By the way, if anyone knows how to lift this RAM ban, I would love to hear from you!

Thanks again Ervin,

I took the plung last night and ordered a 17 inch 2.0ghz Duo from HP with 1 gig of ram and a 256 meg video card. I ended up with better specs and saved a couple of hundered dollars over the Sony (several hundered over the price of a dell or apple with the same specs, although I sacrificed some what on the hard drive. I have no doubt that the Sony isn't a rocken machine. But I'm happy with what I built. Thank you for your information.
