new video card
A question regarding video cards.
Is it true that for video editing, a 128MB video card performs just as well as a 256MB card? I wouldn't notice the difference? Thnx |

In most cases, but it is NLE dependent. Avid Liquid will work better with more memory, especially in HD. I think the latest versions of After Effects and Vegas 'may' have better results, but it won't be like "buying a new machine" better.

Video card performance
Alot also depends how good the memory is on the video card. Earlier this year I bought a 6600GT with 128MB 256-bit Memory . Later on I bought an 6600GT 256MB at 128-bit memory. The larger bits the more bandwidth you get. Hence information is allowed to move more freely. The 128MB 6600 GT card out performed the 256MB 6600 GT card. I only discovered this after having both of the cards and wondering why the 128MB card looked just as good as the 256MB video card.
