Monitor trouble with new video card

I got a new video card, a PNY GeForce 8600 GT and its causing lots of issues with my tv/monitor. When the computer is booted, the monitor displays that it is recieving the signal from DVI-A and all is well. But once windows starts it switches itself to DVI-D and says "No Signal" and shuts off. The monitor is connected by a monitor wire with a DV adapter on both ends. So far as I can tell its an Ilo HDTV monitor. Any idea how i could fix this issue? The monitor doesn`t have any way to manually select the DVI input like A B C D either :\

issue resolved. Switched the VGA wire with adapters out for a DV wire and all seems working for now
