Crazy Infared camera Idea

Okay you know how 1/2 AND 2/3 braodacast cameras have an blue IR filter infront of the CCD right behind the lens. What if it is removed? It's really easy you unscrew it and pull it out, I did it when I was cleaning an older cam. Is the camera now infared. That is if I have an IR spotlight will it be similar to sony nightshot?

CCDs are very sensitive in the IR. That's why the filter is there. Remove it and the CCDs will respond to IR. What you'll actually get remains to be seen but yes, if you illuminate a scene with an IR source the camera should record it.

A novel trick to do with cameras, is to look at your TV remote control with it.

TV remote controls use infra red, so if you can see the LED flashing through your camera, then you're seeing infra red!

maybe try it in the dark, and see if it illuminates anything?
