4:3 Under Scan Q?
Does a 4:3 underscan overscan/show up on a 16:9 monitor displaying 4:3 footage?
Cheers. |

If it is a 16:9 TV I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they are working
with the TV safe zone with all their scaling and whatnot. A broadcast monitor is a different question and it'll probably display it fully. But, that might depend on the monitor. If you have a monitor in mind it might be best to just contact the company and ask the question to a technical person for the product[line]?

Thanks rob.
I was enquiring about consumer 16:9 tvs and lcds. The newer models have zooming too so it got me wondering. I see a lot of footage with dirt and masks in over-scan. I'm guessing more meticulousness is in order for 4:3 footage with the rising popularity of widescreens. Cheers. |

Go to your local big TV shop and ask if you can watch some
footage. That should give you a pretty good idea. My guess would be they aren't showing it (consumers can be picky about such things).
