how do i create a simultaneous back up and generate EDL?

Hi all, I am a newbie to DV filmmaking and am planning on filming on DV and transfering to film.

1.Can anyone tell me a way to create a simultaenous back up of my master tape? Can i pull a wire out from the camera and record using another recorder?

2. How does one create an EDL if there are no embedded counter on the tape? or is there one?

3 Can anyone suggest a tape to film transfer facility in Singapore?

Thank you

You can check out the new hard-disk recorder being mentioned here. You can record on tape and thru firewire-out at the same time.

Your EDL will come out of your project files, not from a tape. Most people put them on a CD. Your NLE should have some function in a menu someplace for creating the EDL and copying it to a CD.
For a backup master, just make another one the same way you made your first. Or, if you've already dumped your media files, you can go firewire out from one deck or camcorder to another. You can do it simultaneously if you have two decks, or a deck and a camcorder--firewire out of your NLE to the deck, firewire out of the deck to the second recording device.
