Moe,

It is possible to use Nero Recode to encode AVI files. Just launch Nero Recode and choose the "Recode DVDs and Videos to Nero Digital" option. That's how I encoded all the MPEG-4 videos on my web site. I have had a few DV AVIs that have exhibited a slight audio sync problem once encoded to MPEG-4 that I was never able to resolve, though. Also, the files won't stream from a web site. That aside, however, the quality is far above what can be achieved with the QuickTime MPEG-4 codec, and like you said, it's amazingly fast.

Thanks for that info, I thought that Recode didn't handle AVI's, that's good news. Darn though, more testing!

Funny you mention the audio sync problems, a friend was having sync problems on his PC when they tried playing back some Nero Digital test files I'd created, although on my PC I had perfect sync.
