Blood spray with After Effects?

Anybody know a way to add digital blood spray into existing footage using AE 6.0?

I've been fooling around with the Particle Cannon but could really use some advice.

Thanks.

Hello Scott, welcome aboard DVInfo.net!

I've moved your post to our general forum since the question is
not limited to AE on the Mac platform and you will hopefully get
some more responses here.

particle illusion woudl prolly be ur best bet.. it also allows for timed gravity, so u can get some good splatter happening, then set it to drip after afew seconds :)

unless you're real familiar with AE, then I would look at alamDV by fxhome.com. They have a bunch of special effects that you can just drop into your footage and keyframe around....pretty easy actually.

How globular is this blood spray to be?

You could just set up an upward light and black background and use a household spray bottle to create some spray patterns in the air.

Capture video of this and use it as a luma matte for a dark maroon solid layer and you've got blood spray.

Have fun.

Scott, I'm acting in a short film at the moment where the director/effects guy is adding in blood spray digitally. Go to the contacts page at the Less Than Even website and email him. He's using AE.

Cheers
Aaron

Alternatively, I guess you could shoot bloodspray in front of greenscreen, from a green hose, and composite it in using Keylight.
