GY-5000U inquiries

The GY-5000 U will be out pretty soon, I was wondering if this camera is any good.

I'm planning on purchasing either a Canon XL1s or a GY5000U, I need some advice on which camera would be the better to buy considering additional lens choices, price, value, depth of focus, image quality, etc.

Since the camera isn't even available yet (as you point out) it's hard to draw comparisons. My understanding is it's based on the current (soon to be discontinued?) DV500. Do a search on DV500 and you'll find some comparisond to the XL1. I have a client who is purchasing a new camera before the end of the year. He's considering the JVC, so I might get to shot with one before the end of the year.

Everything there pretty much applies here as well.

Jeff if you get your hands on that thing, I want a full report! ;-)

Hope this helps,
