Ipad/iOS devices
Hey guys! I'm thinking I'm going to buy an iPad mini tomorrow, as I find the size much more manageable than a regular iPad and perfectly suited to my needs! I was wondering if you had any thoughts on regular iPad vs mini, and if you had any must have apps/tricks for iPads/iPhones!
I know some people tether their 5diiis to iPads using Eye-fi cards, is there an app or something required on the iPad end to do that? I would highly recommend the sun seeker app for your iPhone, it's great when you're scouting locations and want to see where to sun will be at any given time, gives a good sense for lighting. The Triggertrap mobile app is also cool, a great way to get time lapses on the fly as well as being able to tell the sunset and sunrise times locally, among other things. The GoPro app is a no brainer for anyone using GoPros in their shoots, and explains itself. SMAPP (The Stillmotion App) has a bunch of great tools in it for filmmakers, from shot lists to gear lists to free tutorials. Semi-related thought. I'm looking to use my iPad as a portfolio presentation for meetings, do you guys have any trips to make your reels etc look snazzy when showing people on these devices? Thanks, Evan

Re: Ipad/iOS devices
had an iPhone for a while, an iPad for a little while... here's what's been useful to me:
- Movie*Slate. Customizable slate with lots of options and upgradeability - myLite (or similar) - turn the iPad into a low-intensity, variable color dimmable light pad - PhotoSynth - creates stitched 360 panoramas. Nice for location scouting, but proprietary. Might be better open apps - Teleprompt+ - Exactly what it sounds like - Skype/FaceTime - use these and your interviewer doesn't even have to be on set - DropBox, FileManager, iFiles - shuffle data about There are plenty of other apps, these are just the ones from which I get the most use. |
