How is progressive HD stored on tape?

How is progressive HD stored on tape? As a truly complete frame or always divided into fields (like with frame based DV material or 24PsF)? Do direct-to-disk recording systems store progressive in the same way as tape?

I know there's no practical difference between a segmented frame and a full frame in practice since the field pairs can just be woven into a full resolution frame. However, am correct in saying that there are no video cameras that actually store an entire frame/picture on tape?

720p HDTV MPEG2 does contain true progressive frames, right? (as do the many PC formats like Quicktime/MPEG4 and WMV)

Thanks,

Roy

Any tape format. I'm doing some homework on frame based recording in general and I'm looking for an overall picture..

Well, in that case you better start with the basics of tape. Every tape format will store images differently, and your question has no answer.

With all due respect, I think my questions have very clear answers.

1. Are there any cameras that store true progressive frames as opposed to divided into fields (like frame based DV material or 24PsF)? If so, which ones?

2. Does 720p HDTV MPEG2 contain true progressive frames? (like most pc video formats, e.g. Quicktime trailers, WMV, etc.)

Thanks,

Roy
