Best way to create a silhouette at DVinfo.net

I need to create a video which will be a silhouette of a dancer . The background will be either blue or white. I know that I can simply expose for the background and not the individual, but does anyone have any other ideas regarding this? is there a certain material that I should use for the background that will help the silhouette appear to be more crisp?

Usually, this is done with a greenscreen.
