I would add the "relative" issue - some of my relatives barely even notice the difference between SD and HD.....

Once I displayed stills on a 4K monitor, I was blown away by how much better they looked, I gained a new appreciation for what my cameras were actually capturing. Of course this also applies to clips shot with a 4K camera (keeping in mind there can be quite a variation in the quality of 4k, depending on the capture device).

More "information" on the display and in the capture devices should, if implemented properly, make for better, more realistic images. In 8 year old terms, prettier pictures that are sharper and clearer. Implementations can vary widely.
