Blackmagic Teranex Shelf

Am I losing the plot here? I've got three ⅓ 19" rack BM products - hyper decks x 2 and a web presenter, and it occured to me that sticking them in a rack would be sensible - but then I discovered how much they are. I bid for a second hand one on ebay and it went for £73! I have empty rack shelves that are a close fit, but is there something I'm missing?

Secondary to this, is it something to do with cooling. The hyperdecks get quite warm, yet jamming three together means each one sucks in the expelled air from the others, doesn't it?

I'm left thinking I am missing something important here?

Re: Blackmagic Teranex Shelf

With my Matrox Monarch unit, the exterior warms up but is part of the thermal management. Bolted into a rack, the whole rack would then conduct and become part of the thermal dissipation. This could also be a similar case with your BM equipment.

You could always try it and see how you go, and even install a fan into a spare part of the rack to see if it suffices. The only item remaining would be the BM logo.
