1.7x Tele Adapter Sony VCL-HG1758 - Who has used one of these? Good? Bad/indifferent?

I'm considering using it on my XM2. Anybody had any experience of this adapter?

TIA,

Grazie

I have this extender, and have used it on my VX2000. It does vignette at mid range back to wide. Some darks corners disappearing as zooming continues and depending on aperature.

The image quality is pretty decent, though I haven't tested lines of resolution or anything like that. CA seems to be under control. I've even used it with a step up ring on my FX1, and the have decent results with the HDV images.

Chris, thank you.

What is the diameter of the "big-end"? I have a matte box with a 80mm clamp ring.

TIA,

Grazie

Looks a bit bigger than that. The metal shade in front is around 92 mm, and if you mounted on the rubber ring its up to 94 mm..

Its like a rubber bumper material recessed from front edge of lens going all the way aroung the lens. Probably to protect in a drop situation. Nothing major, just adds to the circumfrence a bit if you are attaching your ring there.

Chris? Do you have any "stills" of what this 1.7 can do? If you don't, don't worry.

Grazie

Chris Barcellos June 22nd, 2006 03:16 PM

Want them from my VX2000 (actual stills from camera ) or screen grabs from FX1 HDV ? I'll put some together tonight.

Graham:

Any conclusion after looking at the frames ??

Does this mean I don't have to pay $850 for the Century 1.6x for my FX1?

What about the Century 2x-58mm for the PD-170? How does that work with the FX1? Anyone try it? Maybe I should post a new thread.

Thanks.
